Itunes won't install - related to Adobe problems?

    I'm trying to install the itunes on my laptop.
    I had it installed before and didn't remove or uninstall it.

    When I go to open it a "configuring" window appears briefly, then a window appears saying something like" you must restart your computer toupdate changes in order to proceed. Do you want to restart now or later manually?"

    I've done both but itunes won't open.

    I don't know if it's related, but I have to reinstall adobe flash player after I have powered off the laptop.

    I've uninstalled and think i've gone through the settings to no avail.

    I'd appreciate any help.
