Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

in fairness to that garage, they do normally seem to be pretty good with having long NCTs on their stock.

Well even if it does have an NCT , the price they are asking makes that cert worth about 4250 quid......Retail :p

You can always tell an ex. Dublin Merc taxi that has done mega miles when the headlights look dark like that. I'd say it has at least 100 k more on the clock than advertised.

It seems this seller has had a small dose of reality, the price is now down to €1000, just knock another 0 off that and it might be saleable.

PLENTY! I know a lad who got 10 grand for one not so long ago.

Those Corolla's have been making mad money for the last 7 / 8 years. There was a time in the late 90s early 00s that they were worth very little. A guy living near me swapped a grey over black one for an 88 fwd Corolla GT that was rough enough about 10 years ago.

I know a lad that paid over 20k for one a few years back, mind you it was fully rally prepared !

They are in many ways a specialist motors lusted after by a certian type of young fella !

Yes, as they are sought after for example for Rally.
    SV wrote: »

There are. But in the case of the Corolla, they are ultra rare and pretty sought after also by Rally drivers, so I can see that getting it's money.

They're actually a nice car to drive. I'd buy one only for I couldn't justify paying 6-8 grand, the cars you would get for that!

Two other reasons, 1. They're a red flag to the bulls that are Gardaí
    2. They've all been dogged within an inch of their life!

The Golf GTi Mk1 1800 is the best of all... fast and no brakes to speak of.. that is excitment!

Doesn't matter, I have an Almera GTi. It has a few bits to sort out like scrapes and scratches but it's an original Irish car, FSH, lower mileage, running very well. I could sell it to someone for €1,200. They could get the chips etc done and have 5k in their pocket.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
