Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What can happen if you get a summons for reckless driving a year after the accident.

I know you go to court. But could you be banned from driving etc

Depends on the nature of the offence, one thing is for sure it being a year ago doesn't make any odds

There is no offence for reckless driving. Careless driving or dangerous driving would be correct. Did you get a summons? This might be better suited for the legal forum

Now I'm confused... Is the summons for someone else?

You go to court, the judge listens to the evidence, convicts you* and then you get your punishment.

Probably a fine and penalty points. Maybe a driving ban. Possibly life imprisonment or deportation to Australia.

*In theory this doesn't always happen.

    -edit-
driving through a red light and hitting a car

Ya its for someone else. Cop rang them up this morning from dublin to tell them there was a summons for them in the local station

Is there not a six or twelve month statute of limitations on RTA offences?

AFAIK it's 6 months for the prosecution wheels to start in motion (preparing summons etc) - serving the summons(es) can fall outside of this window.
