Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you can use Linux, then go for Linux!

I just bought a new machine and installed XP on it.

The lads in work all pretty much have windows 7 on theirs and are raving about it. It's due to remain free for another year I think. What I can't guarantee is how well it runs on older machines although reviews I've looked at are that it's fine. I'm downloading it tonight to try it after their praise of it.

Alternatively if there is nothing wrong with the machine and the OS on the Dell then why bother changing anything? Just create yourself an admin account and delete any accounts that won't be used (saving any data that's important).

no need to fix old os, if it has a win xp key on the side the you can just install xp fresh from a borrowed cd.

+1 Ubuntu 9.04 is the dogz, have it on my laptop and I have to say its mighty impressive.

Depends on what you want to do though,if you want to play games you might get them to work under wine (a windows api) or not.

Post up what use this machine will get and we can advise you as to the best course of action to take.

Go W7 - it's the business. XP is 5 or 6 years old...

The recent Release Candidate download comes with a timed key. Once the key expires you will need to buy a license.
