Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Irish navy vessels are named L.É. Niamh and L.É. Roisin.

    What does L.É. stand for?

    Long Éireannach, or "Irish Ship"

L E stands for Lung Eireanach (spelling!) ---Irish Ship.

On the subject of names, I cannot see why the powers that be changed from naming the ships after Irish females some of whom were warriors to writers/ poets .

Simon Coveney's recent freudian slip sorta explains their recent naming decisions:
Minister Coveney said that the naming of the ship after William Butler Yeats, a world renowned Irish poet, literary figure and Nobel Laureate,” will continue to facilitate greater recognition of our Naval Service ships when visiting foreign ports and set a tone domestically reflecting a more modern Ireland and Irish Naval Service”.

It would seem using Irish language names for ships is:
    (a) backwards
    (b) won't help the IDA!!!
    (c) FG members seem to have inferiority complex about foreigners not been able to pronounce the ships names!
