Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking to get an iMac Desktop but I'm not sure which one to get. All I want it for is basic use such as email, Skype, YouTube, internet and viewing photos.

Can someone let me know which would be the best to get at a basic price because I'm not quite up on these things.. Thanks

Look at the refurb store. Only difference is it comes in a white box.

They have a newer stripped back one available at 21.5 inches and it's more than adequate for your requirements, but it still comes in at about €1,100.

If you have a screen, keyboard & mouse, you could get an excellently specced mac mini.

There's an apple event on Wednesday (I think), so hold off until then to see what happens.

Thanks for the reply. Ya 21.5" would be perfect. I see this one on Currys for €1,130. It's on Amazon for €1,245 and on Apple Ireland for €1,350.

How about a Mac Mini ? You can buy a 24" monitor for about 130 quid in PC World, add any USB keyboard and mouse and you're sorted. There's a good choice on Adverts.

Stick with the i5 or i7 versions and avoid the older (though still reasonably capable) Core2Duo models. Use Mac2sell.net to get an idea what a machine might cost. Some people have grand ideas about what their computer is worth, e.g. 1200 euro for a first gen 21" Core2Duo iMac in a shop that advertises on Adverts.

Don't buy the older PPC models, i.e. G4 CPU.

id advise to buy off Apple if you have any issue afterwards its a lot easier to claim consumer law of Apple than other vendors

Absolutely no difference where you buy it from in Ireland, Granted buying from an Apple reseller may be easier if they are a service provider and by easier I mean only that they should have a copy of your receipt. All Apple service providers Can process EU consumer law repairs and they are the one's who repair on Apple's behalf anyway. Yes processing consumer law may be more awkward going through Harveys, pc world etc. only because they aren;t repair agents for apple. but if you get it repaired with an apple service provider they shouldn't mind where you bought it.
