Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I've been looking at the LaCie Lacinema rugged

I had an iomega multiamedia hd but dropped it 2 feet and that was the end of it.

I'm looking for a multimedia external HD (backup up PC, itunes and watching films on tv) that could survive a knock or fall. The LaCie appears to be 'padded'.

If it's no good are there any others that are durable?

    Thanks,
    Pa

you are looking for a laptop drive with an acceleration sensor this will TRY to park the head before it lands. no guarantees of course

    padding ?
you need 2 inches around a drive to make it survivable in the post and that's when the head is already safely parked and the drive is off.

or get a solid state drive

IBM, now Lenovo, has an analogous system, the Active Protection System, found in some ThinkPads starting in 2003.

Acer has a similar system, known as GraviSense, found in some TravelMate-series notebooks manufactured in 2006.

HP has two equivalent systems named 3D DriveGuard and HP Mobile Data Protection System 3D.
