Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lads-obviously the guys whove done their LC know more about what it takes to get through the LC than a 5th year HOWEVER-The OP asked this back in June-hes probably not on here any more, he has only 5 posts-hes probably not going to see any of this.

You've posted in the 5th year OT saying you're in 5th year. You're fooling nobody.

I'm in college. I've sat my leaving cert. I've been through it. And I'm off college on Fridays.

Don't come on here talking down to people and being judgmental throwing other people's opinions out the window, when realistically you haven't been through it and will more than likely be on here begging for the same advice next year.

I never denied being in 5th year, I just said I have no school tomorrow. I would argue with you but everything you're saying is just a bunch of statements with no evidence. I might as well call you loser who spends his nights attempting to outsmart and insult people younger than him online. Which is not true :)

My point throughout this is that with hard work and determination you can achieve 625 points, i doubt most of the people who have done their lc that are arguing with me aimed to get 625 points. Also I've acquainted myself with high achievers in my school that got 500+ on their LC and i'm pretty sure they know more.

If you get 625 it means you were incredibly lucky all the papers went your way-there! Yes someone who gets 6A1s must have had incredible dedication and motivation and studied their asses off but somewhere along the line luck does play a part-alot of times people who get A2s are just as deserving of an A1 the paper just was not the perfect paper-if you get what Imean.

Well actually some of the people you are arguing with DID get 500+ and I myself know 2 people who got 615-why did they not get 625-theyve got scholarships galore but yet there was just that 1 paper that damaged their perfect score-those papers did not go perfectyly the way they wanted to despite knowing their material in abundance, inside and out-bellcurve is a b!tch btw-thats whats fecks alot of people over and someone who deserves an A1 can just as easily get a B1.

Well they were aiming for courses that required points of up to 490 and they aimed to get a lot higher to guarantee a spot.

OulDublinHead's doing Pharmacy in TCD. Look up the points. There's plenty of lads who I went to school who are off doing European Studies, Law, Science and multiple other 500+ courses, but the one thing they all had in common was they were smart.

Without sounding condescending, we do know what we're talking about. We've been through it. You haven't.

I don't even know why I'm replying to this but I have to...
I got 575. Now do you accept any of what I've said over the past few pages?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    Are you genuinely serious.

Grades go up in 5s. You can't get 581 or 586 or whatever.

    You're such an unbelievable spoof.

So if someone were to say that "you getting 615 points was luck", would you honestly accept that? And Tyrell or whatever your name is, it would be nice if you stopped being so immature...I'm actually serious about this.

I'm not being immature, I'm being realistic. Fair enough you have your opinion, and I respect that you're of the belief that it's just hard work and preparation, but the way you've gone about it is ridiculous, you've tried to throw everyone else's views out the window, discredit them and then say they've no right to post about it. When realistically they're the ones who not only have sat their leaving cert, but have come extremely close to 625.

Not all luck, but luck would have come into play. Hard work helps, but does not guarantee high points. Intelligence is obviously needed.

No Im saying that someone who 625 points wouldve known the exact same stuff as the people who got 615-just they had 1 paper that didnt go as well for them. How some papers go is down to chance/luck. And Im being too general with the term luck-just they may have left out a tiny piece of info that got them the A2 as opposed to A1-or the bellcurve which interferes soooo much in grades, etc, etc.

I would have probably read and taken your response seriously but after reading "I'm not being immature" I just didn't bother because you certainly are being immature, fair enough I couldn't memorize past achiever's points and when I argued my view you added insult to it. That's pretty immature.

Well I see your point clearly, there probably is some tiny bit of luck going into the exams which makes the difference between 625 and 615. But I'm not completely wrong about the hard work. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Not really, having debate next thursday and had to spew out as many points the proposition could make so I could find a way to counter them. Got a bit caught up in it myself. The motion, "This house believes that hard work can achieve high results", I got the difficult side(opposition). :o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,753 ✭✭✭Vito Corleone

    That is such bullshit.

    That is such bullshit.

Loool can't blame you, i'll post a pic next thursday on this thread showing my speech, the motion sheet and (hopefully) a certificate or some sort of reward. But i think they only give rewards for concern debates :s

Man, this lie is going to get way out of control. Now, you're going to have to make a fake speech and print off a fake certificate. :P

    Whut? :p

Ok. I would most certainly agree that hard work, determination, and drive can achieve a lot, but tbh if I were the OP (if he's even still around) I'd feel more pressurised than supported by the OTT tone of some of the later posts in this thread.

Therefore I'm closing it, OP can PM me to request that it be re-opened if he feels differently.
