Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it possible to connect an ibook g4 to a tv? Either by the connection on it or that adaptor that comes with it? If you can what sort of cable do you need?

If you got this with your Mac then either an s-video or phono cable will connect it to your TV.

This is a good place to search for cable ideas.

The PAL connections isn't great in fairness unless it's just to watch a DVD, S-Video is better but you still won't have much realestate - 800 x 600 interlaced is painfull to view.

A standard 3.5mm male jack to RCA Phono (red and white) will supply the audio to the TV.

I've found that it works in varying qualities. Like if you just mirror your desktop on the tele it's pretty crap, but if I fire up Front Row (on an iMac 2.1 ppc) and some kind of movie like for instance an ole 350mb Xvid avi Prison Break episode it actually looks better on the tele as do a few movies or music videos that I have. I suspect it's because the movies have been encoded to work best on a TV rather than a computer.
Having said that I'm not sure if an iBook is capable of outputting the same resolutions that my iMac can when you connect the adaptor.

I'v always found the quality fine on the TV out of my ibook .. using the screen hack you can output to any size... you will need to set to overscan to remove black borders and also use the color calibration :)

I have one of the adaptors for sale too if you want hows a tenner? ..(cost me 25 euro) dont need it as my ibook was stolen :(

Come to think of it have a spare battery too if anyones interested.

Can you explain the screen hack a little more in depth. Thanks

all the info is here ....Screen Spanning Doctor

Basically enables extended desktop, to monitor or TV on an ibook.. supports bigger resolutions than mirroring which will only give 1024 x 768
