Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New laptop or can old one be repaired?

    I have a laptop that is about 4/5 years old. It is a Toshiba and a pretty good laptop never gave any trouble but is running very very slow lately. I have a lot of photos on it and downloads but I am wondering is there anything that I can do to get it back working quicker again without buying a new one or would a new one be better? I will need it for college in September. Thanks.

    Restore to factory settings, just move your files elsewhere for the moment.

    So would I get a memory stick and store all files on that for example and then restore?

    It could also be that you have too many files on it.
    Run few scans a defrag first, and that may speed it up quite a bit.

    Run TFC
    Run CCleaner - Some Tips
    Run Malwarebytes

    Also Defrag your Hard Drive, often it is scheduled to run when no user is at PC, and many turn it off before it can run.

    If you want, you can use Defraggler


    And see if they make a difference.


    EDIT - Forgot to answer question in OP.
    Highly unlikely you would need to replace it with a new one.

    No need at all to buy a new one. Put your photos onto an external drive and reinstall Windows from scratch. I usually reinstall Windows at least once a year, it slows down naturally over time. Your laptop will be like new once you do this.
