Basically because in Australia they load them according to number and the stewards won't let him load last because he is bad in the stalls. Probably not a big deal if they let him but they aren't budging. Looks like bad handling by Lynam sending him halfway across the world without sorting this out

Interesting the way they moved an 'unruly' horse from next to Black Caviar, but won't allow a difficult horse to load later....

Am I right in thinking that if Slade Power is drawn high, he'll end up loaded near the end anyway. But he'd probably have a useless draw then.

From the racecourse website, not a whole lot in it bias wise I would say.

1000m, 1100m or 1200m starts use the ‘straight six’ (named for its six furlongs) with barriers placed at the end of the chute which leads into the home straight, giving one long straight run to the winning post. After years of confusion with runners heading to one side or the other, or both, the barriers were positioned in the centre of the track to make it fairer for all runners. Fields can be large with a maximum number of 22 runners. There is a theory that the prevailing wind can present a bias to the inside or outside rail, but it really is just a theory. Penetrometer readings can be a guide to determining which side of the track has the better going, although after many days of consecutive racing, such as during the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the outside rail has seen less traffic and can be quicker. The outside rail can also be better in rain affected going or when the inside rail is positioned out 5 metres or more. These days, runners often head down the centre of the track until the concluding stages and there is usually little between the inside and outside runners.

No chance Eddie would risk him if stewards don't do a huge u-turn, Guess its just the case the Aussies don't want another prize exported - disappointing considering this seems to have been flagged as necessary before travelling, and no mention of any problem then

    Fair enough from the Aussies.

Black Caviar was always gonna be protected(in Aus)!

Suppose they have to weigh up the risk to reward.
If he wins how much more coin could they potentially make?
