Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys question have a 08 vectra and want to find a cheaper alternative for hids , I have had them in previous cars and find they break pretty quick , has anyone experienced anything as good?

I read online about these http://www.tirerack.com/lighting/detail.jsp?ID=1081 ... But I'm not sure

Either get a set of good quality HIDs not cheap crap, or get a set of OSRAM Nightbreakers, they are the best bulb ive used by far. Does your Vectra come with projector headlights??

I'm not sure sure projectgtr how would I tell? Are the Osram ones expensive?

Are the h7 the ones that I need ?

Projector lenses have a sharply curved lens at the front:

Standard reflectors use a big mirror behind the bulb with a (usually) clear front:

I have night breaker plus bulbs in my car and they aren't great. I am currently looking into a HID kit. A good quality one is not much more than some night breakers.

Bought the night breakers few days ago and I have to say I'm absolutely delighted with them

The higher the number the more colorful they get
The lower the number the brighter they get.
    Go for 4200,

If you have non projector lamps
ie. Halogen you can get the bulbs with the letter "R" after them.
They help reduce the glare from them.

    As for legality?

Technically you need to have headlight washers too. Dunno who would ever enforce this though. Maybe be an NCT item to check further down the line.

CREE bulbs are the future, they're only starting to creep onto the market now.

    LED bulbs.

To be legal, HIDs need headlight washers and self levelling.
Also, bear in mind that projector headlights and xenon headlights generally have different cut offs inside the lens. Most people with projectors think they're exactly the same, but any I've seen opened(online!) are different.

Lexus have led lighting on the ls headlamps, but they need massive fans to keep them cool.

+1 for osram nightbreakers. Have them about 6 months in the volvo, so they are on all the time. Bright even during the day.
