Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

National radio stations seem to have the same contact numbers for the same experts in certain topics.

I don't mean spokespeople for companies. Barry Kenny of Irish Rail for example.

But the experts on other matters that aren't confined to one particular company.

    Some examples

Cars and Traffic - Conor Faughnan of AA Roadwatch.
Aviation - David Learmont of Flight International.
Travel issues - Eoghain Corry of Travel Extra.
Astronomy - David Moore of Astronomy Ireland.

Its almost as though these people are regarded as ad-hoc correspondents and shared by Newstalk, Today FM and RTÉ to the extent that nobody else in the country is qualified to comment on certain matters.

Others to a lesser degree include -

Food - One of the Allens.
    Health - Dr Ciara Kelly.
    Everything else - Mary O'Rourke.

    Anymore examples?

Charlie bleedin Weston, another "expert" for stating the bloody obvious.

Adrian Weckler - anything techie related (latest iPhone...)
Conor Pope - everything consumer related.
    Eddie Hobbs - as above!

Conor Faughnan of the AA is particularly grating. He is wheeled out everywhere on every medium as the voice of the common man for every story that's even vaguely motoring / transport related.

What's the name of that short blonde haired one that always gets introduced as a media guru?

Forever on Newstalk and Radio 1.

Unfortunately, Abie Philbin Bowman seems to be the go-to guy for everything Arts and Entertainment, especially on 'Arena'.

His research seems to stretch no more than a few glances at a Wikipedia page.

Glenna Lynch- Anything to do with small business.

    Sinéad Ryan- Consumer affairs.

Both seem to come across as a bluffers.

    Dr Tom Clonan -Security issues

John O' Brien- Garda - Justice issues

    Fintan Ryan- Aviation issues

Brendan Ferriréar- history or academia related events

Colm O'Gorman any situation where money needs to be spent to redress abuse.

Fergus Finlay any situation where money needs to be spent, well, for anything, long as it's not out of his paypacket.

Shane Ross anytime you need a sit on the fence pundit who won't take any action themselves but criticise those who try to do something.

Pat Falvey anytime you need a lad to pimp some adventure paid for by someone else or report on an adventure funded by someone else.

    Plenty more.....

Larry Donnelly, law lecturer, Democrat, is wheeled out regularly to discuss any US politics even if it is exclusively Republican.

Don't forget Security Analyst Declan Power. Wheeled out by every single station once there's a whiff of:

    (a) terrorism
    (b) military
    (c) uniforms
    (d) something dangerous
    (e) more than 20 deaths.
    (f) Irish army.

In all fairness to him he's excellent.
