Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm sitting the leaving cert this year and was putting my info into the eligibility reckoner, I noticed it says income from 2013.. do they actually want income from 2013 or just haven't changed it yet?
    Thanks!

My daughter filled the form last year and I remember we thought the same thing but I do think they go back a few years so 2013 could be right

My daughter tried to log on today and got that same message. I was hoping to find out here what that means.

They haven't changed it yet. But they will look for the income from 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014, income for anyone applying for the grant is always taken from the previous year's income.

I've contacted them about the problems with the site and asked for them to perhaps send a rep to reply here to problems. They previously had a verified rep on boards.
We'll see if anything comes of it.

Can someone please tell me the answer to this question in the SUSI application:
What is the highest level of qualification that you have attained in Further or Higher Education on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent?

I'm doing my LC this year, so is the answer: none?
    Thank you so much!

Also what is an 'add on' course?

The answer is none . An add on course is if you were studying a level 6 or 7 & you would like to study the same course to a level 7 or 8 you would apply to the college for an add on course for a year. Hope I explained that ok for you.

As I'm a 'dependent' under 23 I have to fill in the info regarding my parents, however I'm not in touch with my father. I can contact him for his PPS if absolutely necessary or is it ok to just put N/A?

It says they've issued me a document schedule (checklist)...
    What does this mean?

It means they are sending out a letter to you with all the documents that you must send to them. This is normal so gather all the documents as soon as possible and send them back. Make sure you only send photocopies of these as Susi won't return the original documents.

A letter was sent out which I would say we will receive on Monday i n which they are looking for documents ( checklist). They might not of got to your application yet just keep checking online

My son got a letter on Monday stating which documents He needs to send back, had to download form for Current Annual Salary for this year which is dad had to bring into work to get signed, No problem with that, but just curious as to why they would not look for the income from the previous year which would be 1st January 2014/ 31st December 2014.

They always require the previous years income because it was the last full year of income.

Yea that what I always thought it was based on, When I filled in the application on line in April.i filled in the figures from 2014 P21, as there was a change of circumstances from March 2015 I gave the information for that also, the change in circumstances is that my husband had a part time job and also a main job, the part time job finished in March 2015 which he received his P45, So now he just has his main job for which they are looking for his current annual salary for 2015, the girl in the office at his job filled it out the best she could but there are something's that she cannot give a figure for but this is how she did fill it out
    Overtime = Variable- not guaranteed,
    Shift Allowance= 12.5% when Applicable
    Bonus= Variable - Performance
I'm just wondering would this be accepted, Has this happened anyone else
Sorry for the long post , Thanks

I applied for a SUSI grant for 3rd level education. However, now I am fairly certain I will be doing a PLC instead. What will happen to my grant if it is approved?

I heard if SUSI see any gambling or betting record in your bank account they don't gove you a grant. Can anyone confirm this? It seems unlikely as I don't see how they can get access to such information but someone please put my mind at ease.

I dont see how susi will even see what transactions you have made in your account

Anyone know what the cut off point is with regards to gross income as a single parent applying for my son?

Hi I got a letter from SUSI asking to provide a Final Course Acceptance form (FCA form) since I applied before I was accepted. It says I can submit it online and the SUSI site says to follow the "FCA link" but there is none on the application control panel. This is what it looks like

    http: i.imgur.com/xJObM4P.png

Any help? Also do I need to provide a physical copy of this form from the college when sending the letter back? Cheers

I applied for a grant for a course in Galway, however since then I have changed my mind and am doing a PLC in Dublin. What will happen if I don't attend the course on the grant form, or if I don't get into it at all?

  • Registered Users Posts: 176 ✭✭pa limerick

Nothing the grant system does not know what course you have accepted or if you were offered a course until the cao inform them..I could be wrong though

Hi I have question. The closing date for SUSI is August 1st. Is this for online applications? I am currently on holidays and I'm coming back in mid-august, so if SUSI sends me a letter regarding all the necessary documentation I must provide (they didn't send me anything yet), I won't be able to send these documents until August. Is this ok? Or do I have the send the documents before August 1st?

I have just read the susi document section, it more or less says that when they send you a letter looking for documents it will have a date to which you must reply by, it also said that if you have trouble getting the required documents by the date to ring their help desk and inform them, I'm sure the same would be said of your above query, so if you get the letter before you are back from holidays, just ring and explain your situation

I'm finishing off my application today, and I was wondering if there's anything I should put in the additional information section? Can't really think of anything but I don't want to leave it blank.

I got one last month since I applied quite early. They've received them, but my application hasn't moved past that stage yet.

When should we expect to know if we're eligible for a grant? I don't especially want to commute, but it looks like I'll have to due to the other expenses. :/

They publish their income cut off points every year, so you should have a fair idea of whether it's likely you'll get a grant.

My friend's application got moved to the "queued for final decision" part of the application. Does it take long to get word of acceptance after this? She rang SUSI but they wouldn't clarify.

Is this what I should be looking at (pages 38 and 39)? Aren't there other factors to be considered? The student contribution grant is straightforward, but what exactly does the maintenance grant involve?

    Reckonable income: here
    For the maintenance grant: here

The maintence grant pays you money per month while you are at college.

This is so annoying, I emailed them asking why they were requesting documents from my father when I am fully dependant on my mother and they replied because they were living in the same address I had to include both incomes.... uhh what? They don't live together and haven't for over 8 years.....

I've been provisionally awarded, what do I do now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭thedumbone

    question time, again,

there was built in option on cao.ie for sending my course details directly to SUSI and I am sure I have selected this option. However, I didn't receive any e-mail or letter, now as deadline for applying has passed, what should I do? I couldn't register earlier since it will be 3rd year here in 2 days or so. I am also new to the whole Irish education system, I thought you should apply for a grants after you receive a full time offer...

Should I contact them or its just a normal thing that they are delayed?

    Thanks in advance.

I applied for the grant through SUSI on April 24th. sent all the documents and then finally on July 22nd my current status changed to
"Provisionally Awarded. CAO details received and queued for Final Assessment"
Its been like that since and is still like that..
My course starts in 12 days and im still no wiser as to if I got the grant or not, and If i did is it fees paid or full maintenance or what..

    Has anyone any Idea?

The only people who will know you're getting a grant are the college Susi & you.

It will stay at that status until the college & Susi communicate end September or early October . Just take your letter from Susi with you on registration day & the college will take a photocopy of it so you won't have to pay any fees on the day.

SUSI want a confirmation of annual income from my employer... i work a really random rate each week and I don't even know if I'll still have a job when school starts :l

    Also, two questions
What's the difference between a maintenance grant and a fee grant or whatever?
When does SUSI approve applications and actually start sending people money?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10 Kearney007

Maintenance grant is to pay for your living fees and everything else.

Fee grant just pays for college fees but you can get btea while receiving the fee grant.

AS for when they send money, i just wanna no when they tell me ive been 'granted' :/

  • Registered Users Posts: 137 ✭✭Nicke011

I am provisionally awarded a grant, but I am not sure how much SUSI will pay for me.

    I fall under this group:
25% rate of maintenance + Field trip element
    +100% tuition fees or
    100% student contribution
I am paying an EU fees (3000 student contribution + ~4500 tuition fees). So, SUSI will pay 4500, but I'll have to pay 3000?
