Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seriously people of Tipperary North. What are you playing at? How can you yet again elect Lowry? He literally robbed you all (and the rest of us) over the years yet you continue to give him your vote. It beggars belief that in 2011 that this still happens

    Thats because people are stupid!

They see Lowry holding the government to ransom and getting concessions for north tipp and so continue to vote him in.

Judging by how the results are coming in there will be no need to have Lowry supporting the government so this gombeens popularity will start collapsing over the course of the next five years.

A relic of the gombeen parish pump politics. The same thing has been repeated several times over the years. Beverley Cooper-Flynn or Michael "Stroke" Fahy come to mind although I'm sure there are loads more if I went searching.

Attitudes are changing but its not going to happen over night as this shows.

What's with all this gombeen references?

Tony Gregory was the original and master at extracting deals for his area yet gets held up as a tireless worker for a poor and neglected area

Anyone else tries to do the same gets called a gombeen
The people of central Dublin were more successful at parish pump politics then anyone in Ireland

He topped the polls as Michael Smith is retired, the FF vote collasped, Noel Coonan is a useless backbencher and barely canvassed at all and Labour have support but haven't won a seat in 20 years.

You can't compare Tony Gregory to Lowry in my opinion. As far as I am aware Gregory did not have the shady past Lowry had or get his palatial house half built for free.

Plus any deals Gregory managed to get were for some of the poorest and most destitute people of this state who have nothing. Who is the casino deal Lowry is hawking for? Its certainly not the ordinary man.

Tipp North, the gombeen cousins of Haely-Raes Kerry.

    People are stupid.

Can't believe a guy as corrupt as Lowry can be elected on first count, many of the same people who voted for him probably give out about the corruption within FF

As a north tipp lad told me a couple of days ago. That casino won't build itself.
