Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've had to format and reinstall XP due to a pretty bad viral infection, I had a thread about it on boards a while back. Anyway I haven't had to any of this stuff in a real long time and I'm feeling a little like an idiot.
I thought everything went perfectly. XP was installed. Set up user profiles and all of that. But now I find that on start up I'm being given the option of 'Windows XP Home Edition' or ...'Windows XP Home Edition'.
The first is the actual OS while the second seems to be for the install disc? Did I do a funny when I was at the partition stage or what? I'm not sure what the cause of this is. It's really annoying me and formatting takes a good while so I thought I'd check here first before I go back at it.

sounds like you have two installations of xp, old and new.

Before you formatted, did you delete the partions and satrt from scratch so to speak?

I have two drives. The second has no system files, just music and other media. The first I deleted all of the partitions and then formatted the maximum amount of space I could and installed XP on it. I didn't touch the second drive and don't think that matters but I might as well mention it. I'm 99% sure that I deleted all of the partitions on the first drive.

START > Run > mssconfig and hit enter

Go to the Boot tab and you should see a button to check boot paths or something similar. Click it and let it check. Click OK and close msconfig then reboot.

    Did this work?

It looks like you have a double entry in your "Boot.ini" file.

    Start
    Right click "My Computer"
    Choose "Properties"
    Choose "Advanced" TAB
Click on the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" section.
    Click on the "Edit" button
Remove the offending entry (line referring to the obsolete OS)
