Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey, running a P3 933mhz 256ram old pc, it's running Hardy Heron Ubuntu. Find Firefox incredibly slow and memory consuming, it's currently using 70mb of ram, and I've visited 3 sites, boards.ie wikipedia and stackoverflow. I have flash block and java turned off. Javascript has to stay on though, too many sites rely on it these days.

I've tried Opera but similar results to firefox. Is there a browser out there that handles Javascript well and flash, and that's it. No intelligent precaching or other resource hog stuff?

For the moment I use Dillo for reading html manuals and books, but it's not adequate for browsing really

Neither of those are gonna go particularly well on Linux on an old machine. Chrome may in a while but not yet.

OP try Epiphany. If that doesn't work I'd say give Lynx a shot, although it doesn't do pictures/javascript/flash!

explorer probably won't work on ubuntu drunkmonkey ;)

might be worth switching to xubuntu, should be better for an older system

if your really looking for something fast you could try Lynxs :) (i'm half joking)

    actually www.tatanka.com.br ;)

firefox is a memory hog , but you can tell it to release memory earlier in the options somewhere

try konquror on kubuntu instead of ubuntu you'll save a bit of ram that way

8.04 on 256MB is cutting it fine, consider scrounging ram or going back to 6.06 LTS
