Installing an insert stove. Need a flue liner?

    I have bought a heatwise/tripp tr4 insert stove. I want to install it into an existing fire that has a standard clay flue.

    Shop said I need flexi flue to connect to a reducer and don't need a flexi flue that goes into existing flue.

    An Installer said that it's an insert stove and it just connects into existing fire and as long as fire has no cracks and is cleaned I don't need anything else.just push it into fire back and secure it. The rope seal between the stove and the fire front is sufficient enough.

    Can anyone advise me of what they have done? It's a 4kw stove.

    Hi don't know if you are still on this group I've just brought tr4 insert burner . Did you find out if you needed a flue as if it's inserted to existing fireplace there is no room to connect one . Thanks
