Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Amp to tv connection issue

Hi guys. Iam trying to figure out what type of cable i need. I want to connect my headphone amp to my TV. The amp only has a USB connection (already in use) and rca inputs /outputs. My TV has optical output, HDMI arc, headphone jack and rca connections.

The obvious and easiest way would obviously be rca to rca BUT i think the rca connections on the TV are input only. They would have to be output right? Although why would my TV Not have rca outputs? If iam right in what iam sayin then that means i would have to try go optical output to rca input (which means i need a digital to analog converter i think?) needless to say this way would be far more expensive.

Iam also wondering if possible to just run a cable from headphone jack to rca inputs?

    Any advice? Iam clueless here.

Ok guys. I have just figured out that the only outputs on the TV are the headphone out, Optical output and i maybe wrong but i think the HDMI arc port is out aswell.

I only have rca inputs on my amp so the easiest n cheapest thing to do is to buy a headphone to rca cable but how would that affect the sound? Bare in mind this set up is strictly for watching TV / movies so sound quality so a slight drop in sound quality might not be as noticeable compared to listening to music?

Will this do the job or should i be lookin at other options? And what are my other options.

I've done this with a Panasonic TV & while it's fine for watching movies, it does seem a bit 'bassier' than I expected, there's less 'top'. The TV does have bass/treble setting that help with this.

The enhanced bass from the external system more than makes up for the weedy TV sound.

Cool. Once it works that's the main thing. Bass is seemingly a good thing for movies too. Can't see the sound being affected too much tbh. Once the cable works and the headphones are driven by the amp then i should be happy.

Just to clarify that you done the same thing. You got a cable with headphone jack on one end and rca on the other right? Then plugged headphone into TV, rca into amp n headphones into the amp and it all was hunky dory? ;-)
