Home Security Jargon Buster?

I came here to learn a bit about my options for home security but have barely been able to get past the thread titles because of a basic lack of understanding of Home Security Jargon. So would amyone be willing to point me in the direction of a good starting site, glossary or something that will help me learn what a HKC is…
