Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Starting a Band in the Clare Area

    Hello!

Looking to maybe sorta kinda ish start a band in the Clare area. The music I'm interested in making would be some sort of cross breed of Beatles, Kraftwerk, Kool and The Gang, Hall and Oates, Chromeo and Air. I guess funkelectronicarock would be the genre there. Of course, my influences musically go way beyond that, but it's the music I'm hoping to make.

I'm primarily a rhythm guitarist, but I also play bass, I sing a bit, and know how to make electronic noisy majiggers (demonstrated below). What I would be looking for is another songwriter, maybe two other instrument playing vocalists, lead guitarist, keyboard/synth player, drummer. I might be able to rope some friends into filling in the bass and drummer positions though. Male or female, and in the 20-25 year old bracket.

I don't have a personal jamming space- if someone had that, it would be fantastic. I don't have any gigging experience either, in the real sense, and wouldn't really be looking to play live right away- mainly write and record.

This thread will probably fail miserably, but it's worth a try, I'm tired of making music on my own!

Here's a sample of what I've been doing lately in this sort of direction, there's a host of bits and pieces, instrumental and otherwise, on this Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/oniadh/electro-hookers

    http://soundcloud.com/oniadh/trick-or-treat

    http://soundcloud.com/oniadh/rainy-day

    http://soundcloud.com/oniadh/you-send-me-cover

And I also recorded an EP (in my bedroom with one microphone and a distinct unprofessionalism) a while ago, isn't really indicative of what I want to do, but will show you I can play instruments and stuff: http://k-ren.bandcamp.com/album/eep

Thanks for reading! Feel free to ask any questions below or PM me!

Good voice; maybe we can do something.....I play drums plus some bass/guitar/vox.
Into very eclectic range; funk, indie, electro, rock/metal.....whatever suits the song.

Cool. I'm going to scope around town to see if anyone else would be interested, I'll get in contact throught boards if I do. The mighty metropolis of Ennis could yield some major talent!

And chances are we probably know each other or have mutual friends if you've been around the "Ennis music scene."

Thanks very much for your reply!
