Pressure on Cullen to lift M50 tolls
    10/06/2006 - 11:43:27

The Minister for Transport Martin Cullen is coming under increasing pressure to lift the toll barriers on the M50 motorway in Dublin.

The opposition claimed that this week was one of the worst in history for traffic congestion on the road and are demanding that the minister lift the tolls to relieve hour-long tailbacks.

Fine Gael's transport spokesperson Olivia Mitchell said the situation will only be aggravated by the upgrading work which is due to begin on the Red Cow roundabout.

Ms Mitchell said it was crucial that Minister Cullen lift the tolls to avoid major gridlock.

When is going to beg, borrow or steal a spine and do it?
