I have a softmodded XBOX1 with XBMC as the dash....i'd like a bigger hdd please! Had a look at a guide and I think I need access to the internals of a desktop pc (i've only got a laptop)...anyone in Limerick doing this for cash incentives?

I softmodded with Krayzie's NDURE 1.0....is there a limit to the size of hd I can put in? I mean it states on the XBMC manual:
"If you want to install a harddrive larger than 137GB then you need a LBA48 compatible Xbox 'hacked' BIOS"

If I get a large HD do I have to do any partitioning or anything like that?

Also can anyone recommend anywhere to buy a hd for it? Thank again.

think it's difficult to change the hds in these .. why don't you just stream accross the network ?

very easy to add larger hdd ,guide here at post #71 http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=443489&st=60 which i always use. of course you need original eeprom which you should have backed up. you can use xbpartitioner to create single partition on 250gig hdd or add another partition g for hdd greater than 250gig, which is very important.komplett sell samsung 250 gig hdd http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=307910 for about 72 euro delivery which aint bad. or if you do not mind waiting about 2 weeks from payment date to delivery this german site is excellent http://www1.hardwareversand.de/6VFklWkZjipeEo/2/home.jsp?profil.vmode=2 . delivery is only 20 euro for all you want but prices are excellent. used them loads od times and come highly recommended. payment by bank transfer only.

Thanks for the replies but I don't have a desktop to set up the new hard drive...is there any alternative? I do have a laptop but of course the xbox hd would be a 3.5"...

There are 2 options for you:

    1. Beg, borrow an old PC with IDE HDD, CD so you use XBOXHDM to make new HDD for XBOX. A new PC with SATA HDD won't work.

    2. Get a modchip, buy a new larger HDD and format it with Slayer's Disc.

yeah you're right. I was wondering though if there might be some kind soul on boards.ie that I could send the HDD and the xboxhdm-made disc to.

If you have your EEPROM, I'll do it. You would have to post it to me in Dublin.

I may take you up on that! thanks :) of course the eeprom would be on the xboxhdm made bootable disc that i'd send. I have to go off and buy a HD now!

im going to be replacing the hdd for a bigger one in a few weeks,
i got in touch with modchipsireland who modded it for me and he suggested this one
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=307910

""You will also need slayers installer DVD . This will format, partition,
lock and install apps on your new drive very easily.
You should be able to get that on torrents. ""

    hope all goes well

I would also suggest a 250GB HDD as going over that involves a bit more work on the xbox or you will lose all your data.

yeah 250gb was my limit. I think I saw there's extra hassle in going over 256gb. But I'm having second thoughts. I put in my copy of Transformers R1 20th Anniversary and the direction buttons for jumping back and forth through the film wouldn't work. I'm not sure if XBMC is any way better than the Philips DivX Player I have for viewing movies. I don't know what to do now....

How old is your version of XBMC? There have been some DVDplayer improvements recently that may fix the issue.
Somebody has link to DL latest T3CH in another post.

its the last stable 2.0.1 t3ch build from http://t3ch.yi.se/

I would recommend using the lastest 9474 build from Monday. Lots has changed since last November.
Its as solid as a rock and virtually bug-free.

Edit: Saw your post on XBMC forum

I see...the seeking with the buttons seems to work on most dvds though just not Transformers...don't see a 9474 on http://t3ch.yi.se/

    I suppose its on xbins?
