Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Duel Fuel Install, What size cylinder?

    Hi All,

I about to get a boiler stove installed (Cara+) and at the same time I am going to replace the Hot Water Cylinder. Has anyone got any opinions or advice on what size cylinder I should go for? The house is a standard 3 bed semi with 10 rads, all fitted with TRV's. Although at least 3 of the rads will be off while the stove is burning. 2 adults and 2 children in the house.

    Thanks in advance!

    Who is doing the plumbing?
This combination is not a straight forward piece of plumbing?

    Some intel here: http://www.systemlink.ie/knowledge-zone.html
Why not just hook it up to the rads and reduce the complexity

Thanks Calahonda, yes I know it's a complicated job and have looked on the Systemlink website before. In fact I've asked my installer to use a Heat Genie to minimize some of the complications albeit at greater expense. The installer I am using has already done a similar job for my parents and the results are excellent so I am confident that he know's what he is doing. Make sense??

IF I were to install a heat genie it would be an absolute last resort kinda situation.
Installing one where it's not needed is only adding to complications. If the hotpress is close enough to the stove and its piped correctly then any decent plumber should be more than competent to do it. It'd be a basic dual fuel installation.
Why do you need to use the heat genie?
A 150l cylinder should be enough but that all depends on the amount of long showers your family may take! If you've 2 teenage daughters then you may consider doubleing that 150!

The hotpress is one of the issues, its currently in my kitchen at the same level as the stove, but I am moving it to the garage, again at the same level as my stove.
At the moment my kids are still young, but just trying to future proof a little I suppose
