Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The exact name for that little noise box is:

    SMALL STONE
    EH4800
    PHASE SHIFTER
    ELECTRO HARMONIX

    What ya think of it??

when it comes to phasers its a toss up between the small stone, the mxr 90 and the boss ph-2

imo the best way to choose a phaser is by what u need it for

what kind of style would u play with it lauren

    Noise!!
I've a blues driver already but i'm considering using that kind of pedal to make weird noises with it. I saw a band using it the other night and what the guitarist was doing with that pedal was well impressive.
Would ya explain exactly what a phaser does? Would it be cool to combine such a pedal with a wah and a delay or would it just become a wall of sound (kinda what I'm looking for, in fact!!)

my kinda lady fair play to ya ;)

yeah what a phaser does is filters certain frequencies from the sound (wah pedals are filters also) and then mixes the filters with the original signal.it only does small notches in the signal so with the use of depth and rate knobs (ie the knobs on the pedal) u can control the location amount and width of each notch...basically thats it really

for the mad swirly sound the samll stone of the boss phaser are fantastic.i have a could of sampes of different kinds of delayed phasers at home i'll post them at some stage over the weekend

set a phaser to a specific setting and delay then just adjust the sounds with a why pedal and it will give u a spaced out crazy trippy sound.

only thing about effects is its dead easy to get hooked so be careful :p

Now that you mention Big Muff, would that kind of pedal be similar to say, a RAT pedal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah the rat and the muff would be kinda considered a sort of industry standard on the overdrive end of things

    both are great pedals

Ah the Muff isn't an overdrive whatsoever. It's pure unadulterated sustaineriffic fuzz.

I have a Big Muff and a Small Stone, both NYC models, and I love them both.

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm down with the delay, flanger and pitch shifter so far. I've gotten some great sounds out of them. Looking forward to having a wage and getting some more noise in my guitar line.
