Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Studios in Dublin where radio demos can be recorded?

I was wondering are there any studios that offer this service in Dublin where a presenter can record a 2-3 minute demo. Ideally the studio would have a good Neumann mic and Optimod or similar processing in the rack to help replicate the radio feel of the demo as strongly as possible.

    Dublin city centre preferable. Thanks.

Most, if not all of the recording studios regularly do demos for wannabe voiceover artists at reduced rates. Usually after normal working hours (6pm and after). Typically, the studio will be throwing a few quid the sound engineer's way for the gig.

There's a load of them in a small area of D2 around Baggot Street - Beacon Studios, Reelgood, Mutiny, Moynihan Russell, Tommy Ellis etc.

How much exactly is up for negotiations with each studio and how much stuff you want to record. Have some dummy/demo scripts at the ready because the sound studio won't be supplying them. Remember that this is a showcase for your voice, so (a) play to your strengths and (b) don't allow too much distraction from intrusive music or SFX.

    Good luck.

Oh, and having agreed a price, time and place, it's always a good idea to email the scripts direct to the engineer a day or so beforehand. This allows them to line up music and SFX ahead of the session, so you can put together more demo pieces in the time you're in studio.

Personally I'd skip sfx . Demo should be 3 mins and PD will normally have made mind up after 30 secs. Concentrate on delivery and be yourself
