Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Calendar of Wills and Administrations - Query

Just found a relatives will on the above using familysearch.org . The effects are valued and it says - Date - The Will of XXXX Mc XXXX late of XXX XXXX Co. XXX Farmer who died date at same place was proved at the Principal Registry by A.N. Other XXX Co. XXX Farmer one of the Executors .

Sorry if I'm missing the obvious but does that mean A.N. Other was the sole beneficiary or merely that he was executor ?

the second name mentioned is an executor/executrix (there may be other executors not mentioned) - they may be a beneficiary but not always. The Probate/Administration calendar doesn't include that information.

I think for some of them you could possibly hazard a good guess that the named person was a beneficiary also - e.g. '...[proved] to sister and only next of kin of said deceased ', '... to yyy the husband and sole executor' etc

Can anybody tell me what is the procedure for ordering wills in advance of visiting the National Archives? I have seen on the website that you can email them - what details do I need to include? (For example, are names/dates from the Calendars sufficient?)

Also does the limit of 3 advance orders mean I can only view three wills in a day?

    Thanks!
