Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone using Google Chrome should install this extension. Basically it donates money to charity every time you open a tab. So you can save the world while you watch porn. :D

I did that as well. It only lets you donate a max of 250 tabs a day. :)

Charity is hardly going to save the world.

If anything, all it does is help to re-enforce the reasons why charities exist in the first place.

I'm reading some cynical people on another forum who say Google are not going to count how many clicks and give that amount. If they are going to give anything they have a set amount decided already and they just want to find out more about us. And we are guilty of Slacktivism.

Its possible its just a very good marketing attempt from Chrome as well, that being said I couldnt give a fcuk - they know enough about me at this stage.
Also, you can just open empty tabs if you are a bit worried about that sorta thing.
    Googles think you stupid though.

    Access to my browsing history?

    Why would they need that?

And is there anyway to prove that this is actually going to charity?

Done! Google still adhering to it's 'don't be evil' ethos. Nicely done!

ya and the more ya open a new tab the more ya take away from the poor.

one minute you're giving vaccines, next you're taking it off them and giving them books.

Also, if you open more than one tab in a one-second period, it will just count one tab.

But Ctrl+T is the way to go! To close all those tabs, you could use Ctrl+W.:D

Why do they need to access my browsing history?
Don't know if I am comfortable accessing all my horse porn.

Are you going to make them eat your shit, then shit out your shit, then eat their shit, which is made up of your shit, which you made them eat?

Not getting all the anti google sentiment.

Those of you who are wondering why google need access to this that and the other better not be using ANY google services, as thats pretty much their modus operandi.

I thought the exact same thing Doc, I worked up all the tabs last night, went to basically donate them, they asked me to log into google (which is fine, although I already was) for access to my address book?

It's a great idea and I want to continue doing it, but if there's a possibility of spam going out from my gmail account then it ain't happening.

    Under the terms
Google has set a maximum contribution of $1,000,000 associated with the Google Chrome for a Cause extension.

There is no chance they will fail to meet this. I am uninstalling. No idea why they need access to so much info, while they probably already have access to it, they could at least bother to explain why.

Can't see where to delete the damned thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,173 ✭✭✭D

The funny thing is that people think that incognito shields them from google analytics. It doesn't it just doesn't save the info locally google still keeps track of what websites you visit its just that your missus won't see what you've been up to.

Did you figure it out. I am now having the same trouble locating it.

I don't see why we need to install an extension..
They could just donate the money without making people install things, but of course it's all for show. How do we even know it's really going to charity.

a simple google showed up no info on this the other day so i left it alone

    glad I just walked away!

can't believe anybody fell for this

    Exactly.
I got them a book and uninstalled it.

Really irritates me how Google have turned into this huge ugly information gathering machine as of the past 6 years.

Hmm, I don't really share your discontent, Google is cool. :D

Why don't you direct your anger to organizations that are *actually* infringing on people's information freedoms, like the Chinese government?
