first off, sorry for yet another 3-series thread, ye must be sick of 'em by now :pac:

So i'm looking at getting a car next month. not fully decided on just what yet, i'm thinking Golf, Focus, or Leon. £5K, willing to go to £6K for something I really like. (sterling by the by, belfast). mostly to be used for short trips to work or shops etc. but also for odd 3 hr motorway trip now and again.

so, 3-series has caught my eye latley, e90 to be specific.

looking at this yummy red 2.0l petrol

can someone in the know advise me on whether or not this is going to be a an expensive car to maintain and keep in terms of thirst and maintenance? is it the kind of car that will put a smile on your face and be lovely and reliable, or am i just looking in the wrong direction entirley?

PS, i'm not looking for a rocket on wheels, I dont need fireworks from the engine, just something solid and capable.
