    anybody out there experience with this? interested in maybe making some really basic games and looking for inspiration. Some code thats easy to follow and learn.

    Personally I would go with the XNA studio for games.

    VB Express would be better for business apps. Unless the games you are looking for are the really simple style like tic tac toe and such and dont require much gfx

    XNA is probably the one to look and it uses C# express but thats not to say you couldn't do the same with Vb.net in most cases but more work beause you wouldn't have the advantage of the framework that comes with XNA. XNA has a complete game source (space wars) included.
    If you want to do it with VB and it will be simple then do a search for GDI+.
