Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    2013 Winner
    1731280321.jpg

So in theory this is a one day race for the sprinters with Greipel and Cavendish both being strong candidates and our own Samuel Bennett @ 50/1. Weather isn't set fair with high winds forecast so we might get some nice Echelons and frantic racing in the early parts of the race.

Etixx-Quick Step generally bring a very strong squad to this and try to mix it up on the climbs with Boonen usually the team leader. However Terpstra might have some thing to say about that.

Irishmen Connor Mcconvey (TEAM 3M) Conor Dunne (An Post-Chain Reaction) will also line out for the race.

    Prediction:
    1. Kristoff
    2. Terpstra
    3. Vanmarcke

    ...
    42. Sam Bennett
    189. Connor Mcconvey
    207. Conor Dunne

It's not part of their calendar so I guess they just chose not to send a team. Saxo aren't there either.

Ballsy attack from Gilbert in the last 4km. But as soon as he turned into that headwind the small gap he had dropped like a stone.

Seriously impressive sprint finish from Cav. It looked like Kristoff was going to get the win.

Poor Gilbert, he didn't have a hope of holding off the bunch because of the headwind. Chapeau to him though for giving it a shot.

Sean Downey of An Post finished in top 30 today. He is also Irish.

I enjoyed the two commentators yesterday, Magnus and yer man off gcn. Better than Kirby plus another.

They actually talked about the racing and not the countryside and other BS.

Magnus is the best former pro expert commentator in my opinion. He gives insight that is far above all others.

Magnus Backstedt is good as is Brian Smith...they do know there stuff but I prefer to listen to Kelly becasue I prefer his voice to theirs and he is just as good if not better on tactics, etc

Its a matter of aesthetics ;)

What happened to Declan Quickley ...has he got the elbow ??

He commentated for Eurosport on Matthais Brandles's hour record attempt back in September. He's probably still part of the Eurosport commentary team, but behind Carlton Kirby, Rob Hatch and Matt Stevens in the pecking order.

Rob Hatch has tweeted that he will be commentating on the Strade Bianche on Saturday. And then Paris-Nice on Sunday with Kelly.

Apologies if any offence taken, Lusk Doyle, 'twas meant with tongue in cheek. To be honest, each to their own. I'm just happy to watch any cycling coverage.

No harm if he has. His voice isn't suited to commentary IMO.

Yes...its a matter of good taste to offend Lusk Doyle ...everyone should have this skill as part of their repatoire

I like him better than Hatch ........

I refuse to applaud anything so easily done. Lusk_Doyle scans every word to find anything that might be fodder for offence, carefully draws you out into compounding the offence and then ties himself to the stake and hands you the matches. See earlier in this thread for details.

I'm with him on Magnus over Kelly though.

No, none taken. My response was meant with the same tongue in cheek as yours.

Eurosport have taken to doing more with less as far as the commentary has gone, since Harmon left they've tried to reduce their overheads by spreading bigger events amongst cheaper contractors. They had a bit of a spat with Kelly over him coming home to do the Sean Kelly Tour as it clashed with the start of the Vuelta, so I don't think they are trying to give us more commentators, just using each of them to lower their costs.

Also I can't stand Matt Stephens, I'd rather listen to Kirby. And that's saying a lot.
