Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

03 A3 Brake Trouble

    Basically I have a soft pedal after loosing a lot of fluid by way of leak.The offending hose was replaced and the system bled at each corner.I'd say 400ml was put through the system an no significant air expelled.The brakes now only work in the last two inches of travel with significant pressure applied to the extent that the ABS works on both front wheels its like the brakes are either on of of with no easy breaking.The breaks were never sharp,well not as sharp as a previous starlet.Sounds like an air problem but I cant prove it.Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    There is still air in the system keep bleeding it. Does the master cylinder have a bleed nipple some of them did.

    As martin says check the master cylinder to see are there bleed nipples there.
    Had a similar problem with a 2000 Bora Tdi and discovered that there were 2 bleed nipples on the master cylinder.Bled both , got the pedal back .

    I had a problem recently with a 2003 A6 - having bled the brakes in the usual order couldn't get a pedal ( using Ezibleed)
    Was reading up on the web and came across a post which said to bleed them in the order RF - LF - RR - LR.
    Did that ( and was surprised to get quite a bit of air out of RF ) .
    Pedal was back to normal - had been thinking of changing master cylinder up to that

    Update :I checked the master cylinder for a bleed screw no joy, I suppose I could have slackened both feed lines leaving the Master but I persevered with the Job.I had a look at the Ezibleed which wasn't available in Halfords locally so I decided to make one.I passed 750 mm of fluid through the whole system before got an acceptable pedal.Thanks for the support.The Servo and master replacement was the next step.
