Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Better battery life and graphics card in the xps. If you are playing games or need the extra juice then go with the xps.

The vostro is considerably bigger at 17". And are the processors the same model?
I'd probably go with the xps if it were me.

The XPS should score around 4600 3DMark06, and the Vostro around 3500. That's only a rough indication of gaming performance, but you can take it that the XPS will perform roughly 30-50% better in games. The 8600M GT has twice the stream processors of the 8600M GS.

Neither of them will fly through current games, but they'll both play older games at high settings and current games at medium/low settings.
