Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Folks, just looking for stuff that is close enough to Ahy to keep kids of all ages happy over the summer. Athy.ie list some events but I'm looking for more.

    Obviously there is the park by the train station, and the one by K-Leisure. Don't know of any more around the town. There are good ones in Stradbally and Ballylinan. The Dome is set to reopen again under the care of the Talbot Hotel, not sure if it will be the kind of thing. www.festivals.ie doesn't list a whole lot just yet. www.culturefox.ie the same.

    Duckett’s Grove
    Oak Park
    Rathwood
    Burtown House

    There is stuff on in Laois, Carlow, Wicklow and Kildare.

    Anything else?

    Go for a walk in the woods - Mullaghreelan near Kilkea or Moore Abbey near Monasterevin, or explore the Ardscull Motte on the Kilcullen Road?

    Take a kite to the curragh (or anywhere else!)

    Kildare Farm Shop. is near the Kildare Outlet.

    Carlow town has a nice big park and play area beside the river in the centre of the town.

    Carlow cinema, kids club saturdays and sundays prices are 2.50 per person and they put on the new showings.

    Yeah, been to the park in Carlow and its great. Cinema is good to know.

    The whole of the Curragh is open to the public apart from what the Defence Forces use, which isn't much.

    Coming from Athy, Come through Suncroft,Brownstown and straight through the Curragh camp. Just before a hugh sign for the motorway there is a gravel area. It's the best spot to park up at cause a lot of people park there during the day and early evening. Saftey in numbers cause single cars parked in other areas and left alone have been broken into.

    In the area described above people fly kites and go on buggies with parachutes(don't know the proper name of this). people go walking across the plains from there also. If you need more precise directions I can provide them. Just holler.

    That's a good day out. Started a few years ago when a soldier with a sick child took a bus load of Temple street hospital kids to the Curragh for the day. The army really done well for the sick kids. Lads gave up their Sunday off to put on a good day for them. Kinda branched from their.
