Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

South Tipp - Is there ANY hope for us to get planning?

    Hi everybody,
    Would appreciate your advice!

Myself and my partner are living in South Tipp (Clonmel area). We are here less than 2 years, but have good permanent jobs, love the area, and want to sette down here.
We'd love to build... BUT have been told by several reliable sources that we haven't a snowballs' chance of getting planning around here. Apparently you need to be either a local farmer, the son or daughter of a farmer or (at a stretch...) living here for more than 10 years.

So....that pretty much puts paid to plans of building. I'm very curious to know if there's any ways 'around' this. My questions are, for people familiar with planning restrictions around here:
    (1) If we bought a site advertised as having 'Full Planning Permission' - would WE be able to use that planning permission? Or again would it only apply to locals that bought the site?
    (2) If we bought a little cottage, or similar, would we have much chances of getting planning to extend it/modernise/renovate?

Would really appreciate any advice/experience! Thanks.

By far your best bet...but don't restrict yourself to a 'little' cottage.

Not familiar with South Tipp but I know some other Councils treat very large extensions to very small houses almost like a new house.

We've built in Tipp before and that's exactly how it was done....

CoCo fought tooth & nail to stop them building on a greenfield site, so the couple bought a 'cottage' and added 250m2 to it is an extension....and on a much, much nicer site too.......

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
