Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The 2012 PW Draft picks thread. Rd 15 started**Picks & Rules in OP**
-
01-01-2012 1:38pmHappy New year all... and you know what that means, It's draft time again here on boards PW! MNG & Gimmick have given over the reigns to Myself and D2D but all four of us are still taking part (Gimmick will help out with a few stips) and the two new organisers have decided to stick by the rules set down last year so quoting MNG here they areTag Teams:
Tag Teams come as a package so for example if you want the Dudleys then you don't have to pick Bubba one round and then D-Von the next. The rules for tag teams are as follows:
- Cannot have a world champion in them ie no DX or Hart Foundation
- Must have tagged together for at least 3 months
- Inter gender tag teams not allowed
- Members of factions, ie Saturn and Malenko, are not deemed valid picks as they are not classed as legit tag teams under the criteria for the game.
- 5 tag teams is the maximum amount of teams for each roster
World Titles:
World titles are considered as the following:
WWE, World Heavyweight Title/WCW, TNA and NWA
(Note: For the benefit of the game as a whole and to reflect the realistic loss in prestige of the NWA Title, only holders of the NWA Title up until the WCW World Championship came into use will be regarded as World Champions for the purposes of the game. )
Eligible Promotions:
WWE, TNA, ROH, anything historically going under the NWA banner.
Time Frame:
No professional debuts pre 1970 are eligible. There will be a round for pre 1970 picks. There will also be a celeb round where celebs who have appeared on wrestling TV are elibible for picks.
- To determine wrestler debuts we will use Wikipedia as in previous years. If you feel the Wikipedia entry is incorrect you can PM me or one of the mods to state your case.
- people who would be considerd Celebs more so than wrestlers are only eligable to be drafted in the special celeb round and not in any other round
- Dark matches and try out matches will not be valid cases this year for selecting a wrestler.
- Managers and female wrestlers are eligible if people wish to pick them. Commentators have not been included in recent years.
Trades:
Trades are allowed from rd6 onwards but you are limited it 5 trades each. When a trade occures it's superstars your trading not goes in the draft so you must be able to make the draft pick before they are eligable to be drafted, i.e all normal rules such as 5 tag team picks limit are still in effect
Stip rounds:
Like last year there will be special rounds to shake the game up a bit and keep everyone on their toes. gimmick has a few tricks up his sleeve for us to deal with again I am sure. Round 1 is a stip round so read about that below.
Note - Rules may be amended during the contest to help run the game smoother if it's felt this is necessary but we will aim to ensure everyone is kept up to date if this has to happen
one thing that should also be noted is that last year and other years people have found loopholes in the rules, im not going to name the picks they made but this year our stance is simple Play the rules. If someone finds a loophole and is able to make a great pick that others miss that person should be applauded (although if its dodgy the rules might be changed next year to restict the availablity of such a pick obviously).
good luck to all in surviving the next few months of drafting.

1st Pick to the SWF:
a man with the look, the class, the skills, the adaptability and charisma to be a big, big player in any company in any era. he can take anyone and have a great match; he will never let you down.
he, along with others, carried TNA on his back for years, and did so with a style and grace that can't be but admired, all the while helping innovate the X-Division, differentiating that company from WWE.
he's loyal, hard-working, and a man you'd want fighting your corner.
he's equally adept at playing face, heel or tweener, and if WWE had him, there is no doubt in my mind that if he were gotten behind, he could be one of the biggest stars on their roster. a fabulously talented performer.
i give you..."The Phenomenal One" AJ STYLES!
a former World Champion, multiple time X-Division, TV Champion, and NWA Champion. he is a worthy 1st draft pick under these, and in fact, any stipulations.0 -
so after long deliberation on which direction I was going to take EW (Emerald Wrestling not to be confused with EWP) I decided to go on experienced stars aswell as the brightest young wrestlers around today.
And this man is here to show the world... that he is perfection... #HEEL

Fusion Pro Wrestling is now in its second year, and alot has changed since we last saw the company fight off The Four Horsemen. CEO Seán Reid has stated that he wants to start again, and build a new roster.
"Fusion Pro Wrestling had the goal of combining wrestling drama with the action of MMA. Unfortunatly this goal was crushed by Chris Benoit becoming our champion and leaving the company. That is why in 2012 we are trusting the company to be represented by a man of a certain class.
...a man who understands the drama and suspense pro wrestling brings to this world...
...and the stiff action we expect from our roster....
...a former world champion....

still 5 more to pick in rd one though so wait till Spongey picks
shouldnt be any confusion but the order they are listed is the order of the draw the second number is where they were listed pre randomizer (same in one sad case)0 -
My first pick is The Animal...Dave Batista!
One of the biggest stars of the past decade, multiple time world champion, Royal Rumble winner, main evented Wrestlemania etc.
I should point out that I had to get approval for this pick from the game organisers as Wiki says Batista debuted in 1997. I disputed this on the following grounds...
The page Wiki links to in order to justify this is the Online World of Wrestling profile but this doesn't show Batista wrestling before 1998. This page lists his first promotion as being WXW which I believe is a promotion that the WWE had sent him to.
So I went to Batista's official website and checked out the official FAQ:
http://www.demon-wrestling.com/pages/faq.html
As you can see Batista says the following when asked about his training:Where did you train to become a wrestler?
I started wrestling training in March 1999 at Wild Samoans Training Center in Allentown, PA. I also worked WXW Promotion shows for 12 months. After that I got to train on a WWE Development Deal at Ohio Valley Wrestling [OVW] in Louisville, KY. I was at OVW from March 2000 until April 2002 when I started travelling fulltime with the WWE.
I've also found a bio of Batista on the Canadian wrestling site Slam Wrestling, which I believe is respectable enough, which has a bio of him which also says he started off in wrestling in 1999:In early 1999, he began training at the Wild Samoans Training Camp in Allentown, Pennsylvania, led by Samoan Afa. A few months later, on October 30, 1999, Bautista debuted in Afa's WXW as Kahn, defeating Southtown Joe. He quickly rose to the top of the organization. At some point in his early career, Bautista was given a try out by World Championship Wrestling but WCW chose not to sign him.
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/Bios/batista.html
So on the above I argued that the Batista pick was eligible for this stip round and got approval for it. If my research is flawed and has overlooked something let me know in the discussion thread and I can change the pick.0 -

The SWE is proud to welcome to its roster one of the greatest wrestlers of all time
......Macho Man Randy Savage.....ohhhhhh yeahhhhh
SWE Roster
1. Wade Barrett
2. Drew McIntyre
3. Macho Man Randy Savage0 -
this was so, so tough. there were 3 really viable choices here for me. but i've gone with one of my favourite performers of all time.
a man who should have held the WWE Title, and probably more than once.
a man who could have been as big a star as the likes of Flair if he'd been given the ball - booked correctly, you'd pay good money to see him get his ass handed to him.
a man with the ideal heel gimmick.
a man you could rely on for brilliant match quality.
he's also a man who had some of the greatest vignettes in the history of sports entertainment.
and the best of the lot...watch until the very end...pure genius. Ziggler wishes he had this charisma
a sublime performer in every way, i give you...Mr Perfect
