@poncke if moving to johnstown and have kids of any age there is nothing for them to do not even a park. there are 3 parks ( swings and slides etc) in the town. the town has a lot of shops but nothing any different from most small town. The cinema is crap better driving to blanch or ashbourne. only a couple of decent restaurants everything else is very poor quality take aways. i nearly forgot there seems to be loads of hairdressers

This is simply not accurate, there is a small park called the peoples park with playground facilities very close to Johnstown, easy walking distance.
Navan Rugby club has exceellent sports facilities and is only across the road. There are also several GAA clubs close by.
Karate, boxing, MMA, karting, soccer, tennis, swimming and even Irish dancing are local too. There's a few good gyms too.
There's also a pitch and put club in town and a golf course just past Johnstown on the Kentstown road.

The tow n itself has a good sized shopping centre with all the usual shops one would expect, there are alos several other retail parks.

    The cinema is crap.

There are lots of good restraunts in town and around it: Zuccinis, Copper and Spices, Crave, Gaylord, The Russell, The Central, Thai Orchid, Oriental Palace as well as the hotels offerings with many more chippers and take-aways some poor, some very good.

There's also an excellent arts and culture centre which you seem to have missed completely, definitely worth a look, it's range is much further than some think.

Yes, there are lots of hairdressers and beauty shops lol, plenty of betting shops and a serious amount of pubs too.

Navan's by no means perfect but it's not a bad old town either.

There's also the MDL soccer grounds out the Trim road which, by the way, is also home to a Radio Controlled Car Racing Club run by a nice bunch of lads.
