Film distributor TOHO announced its 2014 lineup on Thursday, and revealed that Studio Ghibli's next film will be an adaptation of Joan G. Robinson's English children's novel classic When Marnie Was There (Omoide no Marnie) next summer. Hiromasa Yonebayashi is returning to direct his second film after 2010's The Secret World of Arrietty.
Really looking forward to this, because I absolutely love Arrietty, and the source material looks very interesting too.3

Thought Studio Ghibli was shutting down after that last Aviation film ?
No, the director Hayao Miyazaki was retiring, there's other directors at the studio such as Isao Takahata (Pom Poko, Grave of the Fireflies), Hiromasa Yonebayashi (Arrietty), Goro Miyazaki (From Up On Poppy Hill).0 -

One of the producers at Ghibli said the future of their animated films could rely on Marnie's ticket sales. Saw reports that it costs almost $100 million to cover the costs of making a full length film in the studio. So far its not looking too good
