Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Golf MK5 New headunit rear camera question

    Hi All,

I bought a new headunit for my car which is a 2005 mk5 golf that can take a rear view camera.

The headunit (a pioneer) has a purple/white wire coming off the back for the reverse gear signal input to tell the headunit to switch the screen to the reversing camera (about 4 inches long).

I was going to extend it and wire it straight to the reverse gear wire on the gear stick however the wire is very short which would indicate that there is a wire behind the headunit that carries the reverse signal?

    Does anyone have any ideas?
Would this wire be connected to the actual pins that go into the radio or would it be a random wire behind the dash.

Obviously newer cars would have a wire behind the headunit loom that tells the headunit when reverse is indicated but on a 2005 car im unsure

Worst case i can extend it and wire it the way i intended but im hoping there might be an easier way.

    tks
