    2016 is done and dusted and, whilst it wasn't the least active season on record, it did have the lowest fatalities due to tornadoes in the US in 30 years.

    Today is an interesting one. This is the first High Risk since June 2014, it's only the second time a High Risk has been issued in January, and it is the first High Risk to ever be issued for the Florida Peninsula.

    This is ongoing and will continue over the next several hours.

    SUMMARY...
    A severe thunderstorm and tornado outbreak is expected today across
    north Florida and south Georgia, with the significant severe threat
    also expected to extend southward into central Florida and
    northeastward into South Carolina this evening.

    Violent tornadoes in the US today and will contiinue for the day.

    Very wide tornadoes have been reported, one was a mile wide,
    Schools have been closed in many affected areas.

    Normally up to now the US would get an average 145 tornadoes, so far this year 433.
