Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

EHIC card scam website

Anybody get scammed in applying online for the European Health Insurance Card?

This: http://hse-ehic.net/index.html site, which comes up when looking for the online application. Looks like you are applying on the HSE but in fact you have to pay for them to 'check' your application for a fee.
If you are paying attention it's pretty obvious what it is because they state that they are just a checking service, but still mistakes can be made and they cash in. You get your card, but through this third party you have to share your info/credit card details with.
"Caveat emptor" and all that, but just to be aware of this type of thing.

It's hardly a scam when it states on the first line:

"This website is not connected to or affiliated with the ehic.ie or any government department. Click here for the HSE website."

Even if you're really stupid and can't see the option to apply for free it's still not a scam.

    Granted. I plead temporary stupidity.
There was a lot of panic and stress going on.

Even so, I just want to draw attention to it. They are clearly successfully getting business from it.

The same scam stunt is out there when applying for the US ESTA authorization. They pay Google to put a link to them high up on the results page when you search for 'esta'. Their website then front ends the application and they charge you a fee for the privilege despite the fact that they provide no added value whatsoever.
