Galaxy s4 and sd card

I've just bought a 64gb sd card and my galaxy s4 which i've had for 2 wks or so is not detecting the card.is there anything i xan do

Is it formatted?
I'm not sure if unformatted ones are undetected but if you have a laptop or computer with an SD card slot (you should have got an adapter, if not they're about €2-3) pop it in the laptop and it will let you format it to a filesystem, FAT16 or FAT32 should do.
