Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    So there's thunder and lightning and I'm pretty terrified of it, anyone else dislike it?

    I'm convincing myself the lightning will penetrate the windows of the house and attack me, is this possible?

    Highly unlikely, as long as you avoid baths/showers during the event.

    Be sure the umbrella on the treeless place has a metal tip on top and even better if it's a treeless hill. That way all the lightning will run down hill.:D

    Lightning is essentially a giant static shock. Not a laser. The electrons will earth themselves in the glass. It'll likely explode. Also, so will your computer. Any lightning hits a pylon, you're f*cked.

    I looooove lightening. I like to watch it, photograph it, record it etc. It looks beautiful to me. My girlfriend is like you and wont even let me leave the flat if there is some, in case I get killed.

    Lightening is electricity, and it finds the most efficient, direct path to ground.

    If you were in a square 3 feet by 3 feet, and we some how directed lightening at the square you would still be safe because the lightening would prefer air over your body.

    Relax, watch its beauty, open some wine....

    lightning blew up my computer once. Afterwards my Brother bought surge protectors for everything, I think stuff just turns off now instead.


    Moral of the story: stand in a treeless field with 3 umbrellas
