Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a late 2006 model Toyota Avensis with less than 60,000 miles on the clock and the engine blocks are gone on it. I know that at some stage a few years ago Toyota replaced the engines / engine blocks in some cars that gave trouble. Does anyone know if they still do this or am I out of luck? I'm going to call to the dealer where I bought it tomorrow but would like to know my stuff before I do.

The problem was Oil consumption in the early VVTi engines, and they were fixed under warranty.
Assuming yours is a VVTi petrol then it isn't the early type engine.
What exactly has gone wrong with yours ?

There's no campaigns on the new model 1.6

Have you a full service history?
How long have you had the car?

    I think :
Manufacturer can give warranty up to 5 years
Garage (if bought as pre owned car) will give some sort of guarantee for up to 12 month for engine and gearbox.
On both cases in my own experience you still need to prepare for a fight to get things done for free.
So must likely prepare to pay.

Shop around. e.g when I got my car head gasket done most places wanted anything between 900 to 1500 euro. I got it finally done with 500 euro but tooked me around two weeks to find right garage who did good job with acceptable price.

    Good luck!
