Spacious family car?

Hi there. Looking to pic your brains. I'm changing my car and as I have 3 kids I'm wondering do I really need a people carrier. At the moment I have a zafira but am interested to know do any have Ye have 3 kids and not have a people carrier. 2 of them are in car seats and one is 12 so at the mo she has no room in between them. All help greatly appreciated

Are you buying a new car? How much are you willing to spend and how much would you ideally have to spend?

Looked at a new Renault scenic alright. Renault are giving grt deals at the mo but it's just want to avoid them if at all possible. Prob cost me more in the long run. Looking at a c4 Picasso too. Wanna see if I have other options. Have about 20 to spend

We just bought a Mazda 5 and have to say delighted with it, have to say tho Renault would be the last make on my list...

I'd say VW Passat, Skoda Superb (O/T: seriously though guys - am I the only one that thinks these Octavia jokes should go the way of "foglight" threads!), not sure about a BMW 5 (friends have one and with 2 kids in childseats + bits they say they've no room for anything else!), or that A6 linked to above looks nice

You have a decent amount to spend have you thought of a Mondeo, driving them for years absolutely acres of room in the cabin and in the boot.

If you have 3 kids I'd think you'd be mad to consider anything other than a 7 seater. Means you can haul the family, plus friends, relatives, etc. I would be looking at a post 2008 C4 Grand Picasso or Scenic.

Don't think you'll find a 5 seat family car that can take 2 child seats in the back and still have a decent amount of room for a third passenger.

But I'd say your best bet would be a post 2007 Ford Mondeo ,a lower /medium spec model (LX /Zetec).More expensive cars with heated leather seats in the back provide great comfort for 2 , but the third seat ends up as a space for the arm rest.

Skoda Superb has the legroom , but the extra bit of width in the Mondeo is noticeable when you have 3 in the back.

The only car I know of with three seats in the back is the 308 SW.

Even massive German saloons/estates are designed for 4 company directors going golfing, not a family with 3 kids.
