Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bianchi Frame/Bike

After my previous plan to buy a cervelo failed due to some ignorant sales staff, I have decided to go for my second option which was a Bianchi. I have been looking around the internet for some frames and looking at the Sempre Pro and Infinito models. I am looking to stick with a budget of £2500 for the bike or what I am seriously considering doing is buying a frame and then buying groupset and other parts when deals come out.

I am just about 6ft so I would probably use a 56? Would this be the case for Bianchi? What is the best place to buy frames from that come with warranty? Would the Infinito be much better than Sempre Pro?

Bianchi tend to do 55 or 57 so you would need to go up or down a little in size. Were you hoping to buy locally or mail order? I've used these people a couple of times with no problems:

There are other online options. You just need to do a bit of searching.

I don't think it's a case of one being "better" than the other. They're designed for different things. Infinito is built as a comfort type frame, so of interest to someone using rougher roads or in search of a cushy ride. Sempre is more of an all-round carbon frame.

I've just bought an Infinito CV, and am very happy with it so far. I'm 6 feet (in my socks) and went for the 55. As VK says, the Infinito is their "sportive" bike - apparently a bit more comfortable than the Sempre or the top-end Oltre.

Why not look in other shops that sell Cervelo? As far as I know Ritchie's in swords, wheelworx and Velomotion in Base2race all stock Cervelo. If that's the bike you want buy it, will you be happy on your Bianchi when someone cycles past on a Cervelo or will you think I would love one of them? That's the test I usually do when I'm stuck between deciding on two.

I was going to post that very link! That's a great price, although I think it's the 2011 model. I have that very Sempre frame and I love it, although it is designed for going fast rather than for long days in the saddle.

Are you planning on going mechanical or electronic? My frame is mech only, I think. It would be worth checking if it's electronic-compatible, if that's what you're going for.

By the way, Paul at kinetic products has loads of ex-Vacansoliel bikes in stock. He has Oltre XR2s with full Campag Super Record EPS for €5,000.
He also had a handful of Infinitios, last time I was there in his warehouse in Sandyford. I'm not sure how much he's charging for them. Lovely looking bikes. Might be worth giving him a shout, he's a really sound chap who won't rip you off.
