Since we have a few other similar threads I thought it would be a good idea to share any new albums that come out that we like etc. Make sure to add info like links & genre etc

    ---

Just got this the other day and I have to say it's fantastic. Just came out a few weeks ago on plastic city, got some really nice dancefloor friendly tracks - I had it on as background music when i had some friends over and everyone really liked it.

I just bought Bonobo's new album - Black Sands. I've only listened to it 3 or 4 times but I've really enjoyed it so far.

This is the standout track for me so far

I recently purchased Omou Sangare's Seya & on the strength of it, saw her live a month or 2 back. Fabulous stuff.

    Scuba - Triangulation

I haven't got it yet and as I mentioned in the new tunes thread, I've heard really great things about it - loved what I have listened to on youtube and can't feckin wait to get a copy on CD (just found it on boomkat finally, most online sources had been out of stock), sounds stunning...

    Lights Out

I just got this dance techno compilation, 50 Techno Club Tracks 3, and it is even more than I expected for just 8$! 50 tracks extremely energizing, from the first to the last one. In particular I reccomend you to listen to Take me to the ride by DJG, The first pump's anthem by 2 DJs on a mission and Outta Control (Chris The greek Panaghi mix) by Laylah.

Anyway, the troll is so blatant I think it should be left alone, no deletion or banning from me. I hope this troll becomes a regular contributor...

Highly recommend this new free compilation from Echodub... quality electronica covering ambient to dubstep - really excellent! All too often I let 'free' put me off for some strange reason, glad I didn't with this one.

[edit] - I've now listened to the full release and there's some dub techno in there too :) Bloody good release!!!

Wow, The Black Dog's new album 'Music For Real Airports' is fantastic - I'm only five tracks in and already blown away... all ambient so far but ambient/techno listed on discogs.

Are they taking a dig at Eno in as far as the title?

    http://www.discogs.com/Black-Dog-Music-For-Real-Airports/release/2234487

    TBDAirports.jpg

I also got one of the free EPs that came with the first 250 copies ordered of the album - haven't listened yet but was surprised to see this artwork when I opened it!

    Liar.jpg

    http://www.discogs.com/Black-Dog-Thee-Lounge-EP/release/2253129

Actually, they do make reference to Eno's 'Music For Airports' in the below...
Airports have some of the glossiest surfaces in modern culture, but the fear underneath remains. Hence this record is not a utilitarian accompaniment to airports, in the sense of reinforcing the false utopia and fake idealism of air travel. Unlike Eno's Music for Airports, this is not a record to be used by airport authorities to lull their customers.

The album is a bittersweet, enveloping and enormously engaging listen. It is ambient, but focused. This is not sonic mush, nor adolescent noise. Nor is it a dance album. Much of the raw material of the album was made in airports over the last three years. While on tour, the Black Dog made 200 hours of field recordings, much of which was processed and combined with new music in the airport itself, waiting for the next flight. This vast amount of content has been slowly distilled into a set of particularly evocative pieces of music.

Composed in large degree of drones there is little in the way of beats until half way through - but rhythm is plentiful within the buzzing synthetic warmth. This record is not necessarily a comfortable listen. But it captures the spectrum of emotions stirred by airports. There is tension and disappointment. But there is also romance and excitement. All this on this record.
    http://www.musicforrealairports.com/live/album.php

Anyway, yet another great album from the Black Dog.

Nearly fully through this now and no sign of techno so discogs entry is wrong!

Oh and Old Gregg - Biosphere springs to mind listening to this, you'll love it!

Also got the new album from Flying Lotus today - 'Cosmogramma' - not doing a whole lot for me on first listen but I'll give it a few days....
In his second full length release for Warp, Flying Lotus has taken his craft to bold new levels, new conceptual depths spun together for a psychedelic, genre melting trip. Bringing together collaborators such as former Suicidal Tendencies bassist Stephen "Thundercat" Bruno, Rebekah Raff, Dorian Concept, Ravi Coltrane, Laura Darlington and most strikingly , Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Cosmogramma bristles with a maximal energy, crossbreed innovation and distorted beat-bass funktions. A beautiful fever-dream of an album that variously resonates with the ghosts of Dilla, Parliament, Hendrix, Sun Ra, Love plugged into the kind of next-level bass waves that are crashing across continents right now. Destined to be lauded as a future classic...

His previous two albums are quite good. If im right, Mary Anne Hobbs dubbed him the Hendrix of his generation.... perhaps a bit too far. Id like to see him live though.

that would my favourite track of his.

Cheers for this one ianuss - listening to it now and really enjoying it as well.

This thread has given me some great tips - have a ton of albums to get through now! If there's any I've got that aren't on here and worth a mention I'll post 'em up

He had an Essential Mix a while back and it was pretty cool. Here's a link with a tracklist included http://www.newmixes.com/flying_lotus-essential_mix-sat-11-29-2008.html

Yeah I'll give it another shot tonight I reckon - could also be my current electro buzz which has sort of taken over the last few days and there's not been much room for anything else!

It has had good reviews and I do like Los Angeles which is the only other one I have... must get his first at some stage too.

I was just listening to UNKLE's new album. It's frikkin sh1te! I think James Lavelle has finally gotten lost up his own ar5e (and I actually used to like him).

I actually can't believe that the same name gets credit for Psyence Fiction and Never Never Land. I know they've had various members leave the band but the difference in quality is staggering. From start to finish the album is drenched in mediocrity. This is one album to swerve

I loved Unkle's early stuff - Psyence Fiction and Never Never Land were great in their day - the unofficial mixes were great too, years since I've listened to these -

I remember seeing the track list for 'War Stories' back in 2007 and thinking things were going downhill - full of 'guests'...

    http://www.discogs.com/UNKLE-War-Stories/release/1008317

I bought it alright but think I listened once, I see though it has relatively decent ratings on discogs... should I give it another shot?

    In short, no!

I was the same as yourself - huge fan of their early stuff but I've been disappointed by everything since Never Never Land - that'll probably be the last time I buy an UNKLE album - although, in saying that, I have to agree about the remix releases. But I reckon that's more to do with the remixers rather than UNKLE

Yeah I kinda reckoned it was best left on the shelf of CDs that never get played!

That 'Do Androids' DJ mix though was quality, must dig that back out if I can find it... I see its pretty rare too!

I don't know that one. Disc 2 looks good. I'm off now to see if I can find that Morel mix on youtube

Maybe you'll let me know what the album's like after you've had a listen?
