Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I'm trying to set up an online charity fundraising drive for a not-for-project organisation.

I've been looking at mycharity.ie but cannot afford their registration fees. Anyone know of any sites similar to mycharity?

    Thanks

    Check out Fund It: www.fundit.ie/browse

It is aimed at crowd funded creativity and is very popular with arts / non-profit organisations at the moment.

    You could use the site I work for;

    http://www.ammado.com/startfundraising

It's free, integrated with Facebook and has an API if you want to integrate it with your own website. YMMV of course.

I was shocked when I heard about the Charity Registration Fee.
I was hoping to raise a few hundred Euro for a small charity, and then discovered that the charity would have to pay out €655 in advance to be listed.

I guess MyCharity.ie is really only suited to the big well-funded charities which expect to raise many thousands of Euro through the site.

    What a pity:(

It's misleading to say that it's free.

They charge the recipient/charity a 7.5% commission (approximately).

Here's a comparison of a few similar sites (the links are to the page with details of their charges):

    mycharitypage.com
    2.75% commission paid by donor.
Donations appear to be accepted in GBP only, and the charities currently listed seem to be mainly (maybe exclusively) UK ones.
Donors from other countries would probably be charged additional credit card charges. Mastercard customers in Ireland would pay an additional 1.75% cross border handling fee (see http://personalbanking.bankofireland.com/fs/doc/wysiwyg/credit-card-rate-sheet110413.pdf ).
Still, they're the probably the cheapest (about 4.5% in total), if your charity would register with them.

    idonate.ie
    3-5% commission. (No other charges).
This is always cheaper than mycharity.ie.

    ammado.com
    7.5% "approximately" (5% + approx. 2.5% online payment charge)

    fundit.ie (reported by ninge above)
    8% (5% + 3% payment charge)

    mycharity.ie
6% commission paid by either donor or charity.
Listing fee: They seem to hide this from donors.
€655 is stated earlier in this thread; €600 in another thread.

http://www.mycharity.ie/info_terms.php section 3.2 states the commission 6% commission.
Apparently, there was a lower rate of 3%, before 2014. I don't know who might still be getting that - probably events started before 2014.
    http://www.mycharity.ie/info_faq.php#online misleadingly states:
"All monies raised online are transferred directly to the charities bank account automatically on a monthly basis."

They're the most expensive if your charity is not already registered and would not be getting a lot of donations through them, but they might have the most charities already registered.

Charities could get more of their donations by registering with one of the first two, even if they also have a mycharity.ie account.

    Just to clarify...
iDonate charge a 5% commission to cover VAT, credit cards, etc.
The donor is given the option to pay the 5% fee.
    There are no setup charges.
There is also a free Facebook donations App and free fundraising pages.
iDonate support over 900 charities / non-profits across Ireland.

A sister website called iFundraise supports fundraising for sports clubs, community groups and lots of other causes.
