Well I'm looking forward to seeing how the musical episode turns out.
I remember when the musical episode of Buffy was announced, there was uproar amongst the fans that an episode like that would never work in that particular genre of show... obviously Buffy fans were proved wrong, but I'm curious to see how Supernatural fans will re-act to the idea... I'm all for it!

I loved the musical episode of Scrubs so I will definitely be looking forward to this!

I can't see Jared singing, but Jensen will give it socks I'm sure.

I am going to save as many episodes up as possible and maybe binge at Christmas on whatever has aired by that stage. I am terrible with drip feed episodes, especially when there are breaks of up to a month before the next episode airs. I am not patient in this regard, but i am stubborn enough not to watch them until a few have stacked up.

I've just realised that the actress who plays Kevin's Mother Linda Tran is Ross's girlfriend Julie in Friends

May have been obvious, may not be of any relevance to anyone but just thought I'd share, and bump the thread while I'm at it.

I'll just leave this here....The Year of the Deanmon :D

I really hope that they don't save Dean within the first few episodes. I want demon Dean to stay that way and the writers to have fun with it, which the trailer hints at. It's hard to believe that after nine sites I'm counting down the days to the start of series. No other show has been as consistently good over such a long period.

Solid opening episode. Definitely enjoying the Dean/Crowley banter...

Was finally back last night :) Spoilers ahoy:

Dare I say it but we could have an excellent season on our hands. It felt so fresh and new and exciting. The Cas story wasn't great and I find it hard to believe that Sam would be so trusting to a total stranger in a situation like that but I seriously like the direction it's taking. Crowley is great as always.

Deanmon is a badass. Channeling his inner Liam Neeson too :pac:

Enjoyable opener and the Squirrel & Crowley banter was excellent, as ever. Crowley winding Moose up was good too. It also introduces a slight change on the standard Squirrel / Moose dynamic - they're not fighting with each other but Moose is there trying to save Squirrel.

I suspect there's some truth to what Crowley said to Squirrel to: he actually has an interest in helping Squirrel out. Okay may not to help him heal but at least to stop having him in a rut and focus him.

Cas's storyline was a little weak but I'd like to see how he reshapes the angels and regains his grace.

And as for Moose's capture (and Squirrel's chilling dismissal).. I'm going to guess that he's been caught by Abel, which is reflected by the fact that he used to be friends with Squirrel / Cain a long time ago and obviously wants revenge.

Pretty solid return. Glad they're not going at breakneck speed to find Porn Guy, sorry, Dean. Sam actually has to figure things out and Cas has got his own issues - great car, btw. Dean's a bit more of a dick than usual, Liam Neeson impression included.

'What wisdom is to be gained from humans?'

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

    "Just. A. Car."

And there we have it folks, Deanmon is bad to the bone

I kinda thought we might have had another episode or two of cat and mouse before they meet up but don't think everything will be hunky dory next week either. In seasons of old Dean would be healed but I get the feeling there'll be another twist early on. While the monster of the week episodes are probably close on the horizon it'd be great if we had a lot more plot interspersed for another while. The angel stuff was more interesting this week too and will we have angel babies?

2 episodes in though and I'm enjoying it as much as ever.

At what point in the "Save Sam" "Save Dean" "Save Sam" "Save Dean" "Save Sam" "Save Dean" merrygoround would they just end up going, "D'ya know something? **** em. Be grand."

I can see Deanmon going off on one, maybe with Metatron giving him an oul helping hand (and Deanmon ripping that hand off at the shoulder) and it being a Sam and Cole Monster of the Week team up. Just change that **** up a bit.

And Deanmon giving Crowley the what for? Near about time. Remember, Dean has done his time in hell, and he was good at it. As much as I like Crowley, as far as I'm concerned, he's still just an upstart crossroads demon. Dean (without Deanmon) is full of fire and brimstone, piss and vinegar, and with the mark? He'll have the blade back in no time. King of Hell? Bets that title will be up for dispute? Mark of Cain Dean would have no problem knocking some minions into line, there's bound to be a ton of myth and lore about him in the demon world, now that he has little problem killing civilians? Demon panties are bound to be getting a bit moist.

Could/should they revisit some of the older lore? Sam and the demon blood? Instead of Good vs Evil, why not Grey Area Vs Evil? Cas & Crowley working together again?

How old is Cole supposed to be, compared to Sam & Dean? I know flash back showed him as 9/10, and Dean was, well, Dean. And having done 2 tours? 10 years in the difference?

I was wondering the same re age. Didn't add up. If he was 10 or so in 2003 then he would be playing a 21 year(ish) old now. IRL the actor is 39, Dean is 36 and Sam is 32.

Basically he looks in the same age range as the rest of them. Ah well, who cares. Just glad the show is back on.

He's supposed to be 24 since the flashback was 2003 and he said he sees Dean every night when he closes his eyes since he was 13

Preferred 10.02 here. Had the show's usual dose of culture references and I liked the mocking of management speak - killing the client, Crowley listening to the sales pitch, etc. Thought the guy who lost is Dad was a ploy to get Sam and Dean back together, but they kinda made it interesting. Poor Cas is still on one quarter impulse.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I thought that was a cracking episode, but an episode we should have had another 6-8 weeks down the line. I really enjoyed the cat and mouse with Dean channeling his inner "Here's Johnny" this week :pac:

But yeah the fun was over before it begun. Although I guess the Mark will still be an issue.

It was a brilliant episode with Crowley in hell and Castiel having "the talk" with Hannah. "If you look closely you can actually pinpoint the exact moment his her heart breaks in two" :p

Mystery Lady at the end is presumably a bad, if not the big bad of the season. The Year of the Deanmon seems to have come to a swift end though :(

Thought Deanmon should've lasted a bit longer, but great episode altogether.

It will be interesting to see if Castiel saying "things are getting back to normal in heaven and hell" will see the show going back to basics for awhile as far as the Winchesters are concerned... Things have escalated so much season by season that the idea of Yellow Eyes as a Big Bad seems laughable now, but it would be nice to see a return to that for a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,810 ✭✭✭Mackman

Yeah i thought that the 'cured' Dean far too easily. They must have just done it all in one episode to get it over with to move onto the next story arc. I do hope they go back to some Monsters of the Week, a nice break from all the heavy stuff.

The show has gotten very serious in the last few seasons, it still has some laughs but watching the special episode made me remember just how funny the show was at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,995 ✭✭✭Sofiztikated

    Fuck sake.

Year of the Deanmon my arse. 3 episodes in, and boom, he's cured? Back to cuddling puppies, and shitting rainbows. They could have easily gotten a season out of that, or at least up to the mid season finale.

Could Mystery Lady be Abadon reincarnated?

  • Registered Users Posts: 282 ✭✭norabattie

Agree that Deanmon was cured way too early. I'm surprised they did that.
Saying that he annoyed me big time so I'm glad in one way.

I kinda hope they lighten things up for a while now and get back to basics - to the show I fell in love with
    9 years ago. MOTW etc
We need a few episodes like Bad bad at black rock and changing channels again. Miss those !!!

Good episode. I think Ackles as a director knows how to get inside the heads of the characters. Armchair Crowley was fun. Glad to have Castiel back on his feet and his hugs are quite useful! Agreed that Deanmon was cured quite early, but that's in keeping with the show's previous habits. Slight quibble maybe overuse of certain camera angles at one point.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

    You know what I miss?

At the end of an episode when all is done and dusted and Sam and Dean drive away with some classic rock playing in the background. It's been such a long time since that happened.

Anyway it was a standard Monster of the Week episode, some bread and butter after the rich starter of the previous 3 episodes. I won't lie but I hadn't a notion who Kate was and it was only season 8 :pac: Nice to see them run into characters from the past like that though.

On to next week and the 200th Episode. I need some meta-Supernatural in my life :)

Yeah fairly forgettable main story but I thought the Dean and Sam scenes were well done.

Neither of us placed her either!

200th! Didn't realise. According to my TV listings it airs on the 12th so we've a break next week.
I see its called "Fan Fiction". Hoping that means a reappearance of Chuck!

10.04 - Agreed that it was a fairly standard episode, if a decent way of exploring the Sam/Dean relationship through the Kate/sister dynamic. Don't remember her, either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,307 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

The strange thing about this episode is it only showed a few quick flashes of who Kate was even though it was a couple seasons ago, yet it spent longer showing the flashback to last week and Sam getting the guy to sell his soul

While the idea that Dean was cured so fast is irksome, I'm not fully convinced that he is cured. Cass didn't seem too sure, and he was effectively a Knight, not just any daemon. It was made plain to us that he was different, and I think that and the Mark are going to rear their heads again before the season is out.

I think this too, was done way too quick to be cured fully.

He's 5'11". It's not that he's short, the other 2 are just bloody tall. Ackles is 6'1" (and a bit) and Moose is 6'4" (and a bit)

    Stupid tall men.

Why in the show is Sam in a sling, did something happen Jared or is it from the s9 finale?

Megatron? Not sure a Transformers crossover would work;-) It's got nothing to do with Metatron (that fight was months ago in the snow time line). Sam mentions it was in a fight with a demo. In reality Jared was mock wrestling with Osric Chau (Kevin) at a con and accidentally dislocated his shoulder. So they've had to work it into the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,966 ✭✭✭Liamalone

He'll always be Megatron to me :)

Oh how I enjoyed that so very much :)

There was so much in it and at the same time you could just sit back and enjoy every moment. When Supernatural does funny like this it's better than any actual comedy!

Loved the rendition of "Carry on my wayward son". Also "A Single Man Tear"....brilliant as well as having Cas just hang around waiting :D

Just incase anyone does read this by accident before watching I'll just spoiler the following:
The appearance of Chuck at the end was a nice touch. I wonder if we'll see more of him again or was it just a nod.

You have to imagine part of the way forward is doing something about Adam in hell with Lucifer? They can't reference that and not do something about it?

Ah I loved it and spent the 40 minutes just fangirling and I'm not ashamed. Supernatural probably is my favourite show. It's never going to be the greatest or highly acclaimed but that doesn't matter.
