Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is is really like this in Ireland, with massage lounges, pool tables, slides to go through floors, tech areas to get your computers fixed while you have a latte macchiato, food for all for free.......

    ?

The email that was going around had pictures of their Swiss offices which look amazing. The Google Dublin office does have the stuff you describe though, apart from the slides.

The U.S offices in Mountainview are supposed to be insane though.

Apparently the canteen is great. There's rooms with x-boxes and dvd players you can use at lunch. And the top floor has 2 super nerds that basically live there. This is according to my mate that used to work on security there.

I was in their Dublin offices on a few occasions, it was while they were re-locating to their current Dublin offices. Probably around 5 or 6 years ago now....

Anyway, from what I can remember:

They had lava lamps & massage chairs in reception, & a 'shop style' drinks fridge with soft-drinks & bottled water.

In the canteen there was as much free stuff as you want (various chocolate bars, crisps, sweets, chewing gum, fruit, soft-drinks, tea, coffee etc etc)

I remember thinking "Is that booze in the fridge?" apparently on Fridays they stocked up on beer & cider etc for the staff to take home after work.

They had a games room too I think. The office was also decorated in a fun way from what I can remember.

I think they may have also been provided with free lunch (proper cooked meals) although this may have been just for the 'settling in' period. I'm not sure.

I remember chatting to one of the older staff members, I think he could have been one of the care-takers/facilities lads. He was giving out about some of the staff:
"I've heard them complaining because their favourite brand of chewing gum isn't available in the canteen; or that they don't like that particular beer in the fridge. A lot of these would have come straight from college and aren't used to working in other places. They must think every job is like this!"

I heard that there was an actual river of chocolate that flows through it, and that lollipops grow from the ground like flowers. They also have a glass elevator that goes all the way up to the moon, where the atmosphere is actually breathable and on wednesdays they knock off early and have barbeques up there.

The pension plan is **** though, so I'll give it a miss.

    It's all for show.
You can use the fun stuff if you want but you hardly get a chance with all the work you have to do there.

Boss: Why are you 2 days late with this?
Lemming: I didn't have enough time.
Boss: I saw you playing xbox yesterday you little sh!te! Get you stuff and funk off outta here!

Always sounds a bit too culty for me, interesting article here about former employees and why they left the company. Doesn't sounds any different from most places when you strip away the free ice cream etc. Frankly I'd prefer to buy my own ice cream and not be devoted to a corporate entity.

It sounds good but the trade off is anyone who works there becomes an insufferable shill for google.

You can't check your personal emails at work if you work in Google.

Not even if it's a Gmail account.

My sister used to work for them in America. Apparently all they do is sit on bean bags and watch porn.

I had a friend who worked in Google and liked it. They got free lunch alright and I emailed her at work plenty of times so I dont think checking her emails etc was a problem. She had to work hard but it wasnt very long hours or anything. She left to go travelling and just came back. Think she is sickened she left.
